Sundial Family Presents Unique Gift to Marietta Museum of History

Our mechanic, DeWayne Stansell, repaired and restored former Sundial owner Jack Smith’s 1950s-era Ford farm tractor. Smith’s father proudly purchased the tractor brand new in 1952. This beloved tractor has been used by the Smith and Sundial family for the past 60 years. Our owner, Mitzi Smith Moore, wished to restore the tractor as a gift for Smith on Father’s Day. Stansell quickly embraced this large and unique task.

When Smith no longer had a use for the tractor, Moore and the Sundial family decided to donate the tractor to the Marietta Museum of History. The Marietta Museum of History has a special meaning to the Smith-Moore Family, not only for its dedication to Sundial’s hometown but for its Aviation Wing as well. The Aviation Wing is dedicated to preserving the historic planes that have been produced by Marietta’s Lockheed Martin. Smith was a mechanical engineer on some of those planes in the 1960s before beginning his plumbing career. A piece of the Smith and Sundial legacy will now be at home in the Museum.
